The beeping sound in your smoke alarm is an indication that the battery needs to be changed. Batteries should be change every 6 months. An easy way to remember is to change your battery when daylight savings begins and ends (Spring and Fall). Test your smoke alarm at least once a month. In addition, you should change your smoke alarm every 10 years.

The only trash you are allowed to burn at your residence is horticulture waste in accordance with the Clean Air Act 1991,  Clean Air Regulation 1993  and Clean Air Rules 1993. This should be done in a metal 55 gallon drum. You cannot burn horticultural waste in big pills.  Burn waste in small amounts and add to the drum as it burns down. Keep a garden hose nearby, in the event of an emergency. NEVER LEAVE THE FIRE UNATTENDED! You should check the wind direction with the weather report the day of your planned burn. You may have to extinguish the fire if it becomes a nuisance to your neighbors. In addition, you should contact our Fire Dispatch on 296-7559 prior to commencement of burning and at the conclusion. You should provide: your name, address, contact number, color of house and how long you anticipate burning. Ensure you wet down any remaining ambers and the conclusion of your burn to prevent secondary or accidental fires. In the event your fire gets out of control, contact 911 immediately. DO NOT haste!

As of 1997, it was mandated for Bermuda Fire & Rescue Service to respond to emergency medical calls at opposite ends of the island. There is no set schedule for recruit course to be held every year. All recruit courses are granted approval by the Cabinet Office. Subsequently, any  notification or advert for a post will be announced in the official Gazette and posted via the Department of Human Resources.
